    Another disappointing trip to the Mount Pleasant Applebee's. I will say, before I get into things, that the service is always good. I've never had a problem with service, but the food, on the other hand, is pretty terrible. I've had good instances here, and bad ones, and the bad ones definitely stick out more than the good (or more like "decent") ones. So last night, me and the girlfriend go out for dinner and a movie. Applebee's is conveniently located directly in front of the movie theater in town. We decided to go with the 2 for $20 deal, which comes with an appetizer and two entres. We had the boneless wings for our app - a few of the wings were super hot, and the rest were barely warm. The flavor sucked and you could clearly tell these just came out of the freezer. Meh, whatever, wings are wings. Disappointing, but we moved on. Next, our meals come. For some reason chicken tenders sounded good to me - something I would never order. It came with fries and coleslaw - mine was good, but again, the food was barely warm - it seemed like it had been sitting around, but the wait for the food wasn't even long, so I have no idea what the deal was. The big disaster was my girlfriends meal. Advertised as "Creamy Parmesan Chicken", she got a tiny, thing, overcooked and dry piece of chicken that was burnt on the edges; spinach was CLEARLY just came out of a bag. It wasn't steamed like it was supposed to be. It was completely raw spinach out of a bag. She subbed out the rice that came with the meal for broccoli. The broccoli was also raw and pretty much cold. So in reality, she got an overcooked piece of chicken with some nasty cheese on top, raw broccoli, and spinach out of a bag. What. a. joke. We sent it back, and it was clear it was thrown in the microwave for maybe 30 seconds. The spinach came back wilted this time, and the food was still cold because they hadn't heated it up long enough. Completely disgusting meal, all for a great deal of $27 plus tip!!!! This place is a joke and they could care less about what they put out for food. STICK TO BURGERS AND SANDWICHES - everything else is from a bag or microwaved. Those Applebee's commercials become even more comical now after this meal, when I see that commercial of what looks like a fancy chef preparing my meals. I'll attach a picture below if I can..     We are staying with family in Mt. P and needed a late night dinner on a Monday night (about 8:30pm). With a great "sigh" I agreed to take the kids to Applebee's for dinner with my spouse. Having eaten at many Applebee's over the years my expectations were pretty low. Most Applebee's I've eaten at always leave me feeling as though I wished I'd skipped the meal altogether. So, I checked my fellow yelpers reviews and as I predicted it appeared this Applebee's was no better or worse than any other I've visited. Well guess what? -- We had not only had an EXCELLENT meal, but EXCEPTIONAL service all around!!!! We loved it! I almost want to go back this week during our trip! Our server (Emma N.) was training a new server. The two of them always smiled, were attentive, engaged in their jobs and were efficient servers. Emma knew the menu forward and backward and was able to give suggestions. We were greeted promptly, drink orders taken, and soon dinner was ordered. We never felt either rushed or neglected. Just right. In fact, all the employees we interacted with during our visit were really great. Cudo's to all the Mt. P staff at Applebee's. Keep up the good work! On the food side, we started with the green bean crispers. Huge deep fried green beans with dipping sauce. The green beans were lightly coated with batter and were very tasty. I'm sure the deep fried part ruins any health benefit, but they were delicious. I had the Bourbon Chicken and Shrimp. Awesome. The chicken was moist and fresh and the shrimp were perfect. The dish is a little on the "salty" side, but I usually salt my food anyway. Loved it! Even my little side house salad was fresh and tasty. One of my kids had the 7oz house sirloin with mashed potatoes and veggies. The steak was cooked PERFECTLY medium and like my chicken, was a quality piece of meat..especially as part of the 2for$20 deal. My spouse had the Chicken Freshcado and also said it was terrific. So what have we learned? Don't judge a book by its cover. Maybe Applebee's has made some improvements I wasn't aware of. Maybe Mt. P's manager has an uncanny ability to find great employees and an awesome cook staff. I don't know. But I can tell you that on a late Monday night, July 14, 2014...Applebee's at Mt. Pleasant ROCKED IT! Thanks!

    I was there on a work trip. Pretty good for an Applebee's, with a very attentive waiter and great TV positioning for football. Seemed like a good place to come for dinner and a couple of drinks with friends and family.

    Disclaimer: It is Applebee's, you can't expect greatness. We ordered an appetizer of the Boneless Buffalo wings with hot sauce. Semi-spicy, but could have used more sauce in my opinion. I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Diavolo since with its spicy shrimp, pasta and all under 550 calories, how can you go wrong? I was wrong. Shrimp were not spicy at all. The whole dish was very bland without any real taste. The chucks of onions in it were barely cooked, which is definitely a no no in my world. My Husband had the 12 oz ribeye with loaded mashed potatoes. He ate the whole thing without complaints. The loaded mashed potatoes were very yummy. While we were seated 2 couples were brought to tables that were not cleaned yet. The waiter/waitress made them stand there while they cleaned off the tables. Unorganized maybe?

We came in with a group of 20 and they sat us promptly and the hostess, Meaghan (who said it was her first day), was a fantastic help when we were getting everyone seated.
